Youth Pulse

This is the youth division of Family Heartbeat International Network established on January 30th, 2005 with a mandate to promote sexual purity.

It was on that date that a national production “Stay Alive in 2005” was staged to give the youth of Barbados an alternative to the strident campaign of condom-use promoted by the government and other interest groups in their attempt to combat the spread of HIV. Abstinence was not a consideration in that state driven thrust. Family Heartbeat International Network brought together on that evening, an estimated 5,000 people and had close to 3,000 young people make a commitment to remain sexually pure until marriage, and after marriage remain faithful to their own partners. Condom use was a last resort in that innovative campaign.

Since then Youth Pulse has been conducting programmes in the schools around Barbados and any arena where communication to young people is possible.

Decent Decisions” is a vibrant programme carried out in Secondary Schools where the students are educated about sex and encouraged to abstain until marriage. “Knowing your Body and Keeping it Pure” is taught to primary school aged students.
