Seminar Promoting Intimacy and Financial Planning a Success

Family Heartbeat Ministries hosts ‘Making Your Marriage Marvelous’ Marriage Seminar

Too many young marriages are going on the rocks within the first five years in Barbados according to Haynesley Griffith CEO of Family Heartbeat Ministries. It is for this reason that hosted the ‘Making Your Marriage Marvelous’ free interactive marriage seminar for couples married for five years or less on Saturday, February 05, 2011 at Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, from 1:30pm - 4:30pm to begin to address this serious problem.

According to statistics from the Government Statistical Department, between 2005 and 2009, 24% of all divorces took place among those married for less than six years, the highest within any other category. An analysis of divorce statistics provided by the Barbados Government Statistical Service reveals that couples married for five years or less have accounted for, on average, 24% of the marriages that ended in divorce between 2005 and 2009. This category ranks as the highest percentage average among the 6-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24 and the 25 and over years of marriage.  Family Heartbeat Ministries therefore believes that there is a problem in married couples coping with those foundation years.  As a result Family Heartbeat Ministries is seeking to begin the process of correcting that situation.

Reaching over 150 married individuals this interactive seminar examined two main subjects, Making Your Marriage Marvelous through Financial Planning, facilitated by financial counsellor and consultant Mr. Sam Moseley and Making Your Marriage Marvelous through Intimacy facilitated by Family counsellor, Rev. Haynesley Griffith.

This interactive marriage seminar offered couples a non threatening forum to share some of those issues that impact negatively on their marriage and family life, helped them to look at ways and means to spice up their intimacy and provide practical financial strategies to cope during these challenges economic times.

This seminar was made possible with the support of WIBISCO, Courts Barbados Ltd., Lush Life Nature Resort/Naniki, Divi Resorts, Ria’s Place and several churches through the island.
